Teacher, dedicated church parishioner; service is Tuesday
Debra G. Cammarata, 67, of Bloomfield, N.J., passed away on Feb. 15, 2019.
Visitation will be on Monday, Feb. 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, N.J. Trisagion will be at 6 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 10 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 818 Valley Rd., Clifton, N.J., with entombment at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield. Memories and condolences may be shared at shookscedargrove.com.
Born in New Brunswick, N.J., to Peter and Florence (nee Schach) Giulias, Debra lived in Edison, N.J., before settling in Bloomfield. She graduated third in her class from J.P. Stephens High School in 1969, followed by the completion of her B.A. in elementary education at William Paterson University in 1973.
She worked for many years as a teacher prior to finishing her career as an office administrator at Specialist Metal and Glass in Passaic, N.J. She was a dedicated parishioner at St. George, a member of the women's Philoptochos Society, and faithfully volunteered for the biannual church festival.
Debra also served as a U.S. Naval Academy Blue and Gold Officer, member of the USNA N.J. Parents' Club, and vice president of the North Jersey Chapter of the Navy League. She is remembered as a prolific baker and enjoyed travel, especially to her beloved Sarasota, Fla.
Predeceased by her parents and sister, Denise Rostel, she is survived by her beloved husband, Jerome J. Cammarata; loving son, Jason J. Camma-rata; siblings, Dawn Derosa and Peter Giulias, and numerous nephews and nieces.
