Ann Truax, age 77, died on October 7, 2018 from complications following a massive cerebral hemorrhage.
She was born in New York City on January 28, 1941, to Dr. Harmon and Jean Truax. She was the oldest of three children. She grew up in Seattle, and attended Queen Anne High School, graduating in 1959. After graduating from Mills College in Oakland, California, with a degree in history, she worked for 25 years with the Social Security Administration in offices throughout the West Coast, including San Francisco, Eugene, Astoria, Salem and Seattle. Following her retirement, she began a part-time business Pet Care and Home Watch on Mercer Island. While in that position, she met the love of her life, Janice Perry. Following their move to Mill Creek and the landmark Supreme Court decision, Obergfell v. Hodges, they were married after living together for more than twenty years. Ann spent time volunteering for a number of groups, notably Bailey Boushay House during the height of the AIDS epidemic. She also enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with her extended family. Two of Ann's favorite trips included Africa (Botswana) and the Panama Canal.
Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her wife, Janice Perry (Jan), sister, Betsy Truax; brother, Peter Truax (Pat) and stepdaughter, Kyla McNulty (Reed). Also surviving are step grandchildren Bradley and Derek Smith, and nephews Jeff, James and John Truax.
On October 27 at 1:00 pm, a memorial service for Ann will be
held at the Snohomish Senior
Center 506 4th Ave., Snohomish, WA
