Bernita Kay (Auverson) Schwartz

Surrounded and wrapped in love of God and family, Bernita passed away peacefully into her new life in Christ on October 24, 2018, after a short courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. We celebrate and are honored to have shared the life of a woman who loved so much, gave so much to others, and taught us greatly their importance by the quiet example that she set not only to her family, but to all those that were privileged to know her.

Bernita was born on September 17, 1943 to Kenneth and Bernice Auverson, at her grandmothers home in White Earth North Dakota. Bernita was raised on the family farm, moved to Sanish, and then moved to New Town where she graduated from high school in 1961. In 9th grade at the age of 14, Bernita met the love of her life Ken, and they were married on December 27, 1961, they were married almost 47 years.

Bernita graduated from the New York Academy of Hair Design in Fargo N. Dakota. After 3 years of marriage they moved to Edmonds Washington, which became home; but she always missed the" North Dakota air", the prairie and the meadow larks. Her life was filled with flowers on her deck, family in her house, playing trivia, Jeopardy on TV, and knowing her family felt loved.

Bernita is preceded in death by her parents, her son Kendall, and her husband Ken. She is survived by her daughter Kristin (Robert) Bouvatte, son Ryan (Ali), her grandchildren Zachary (Tristen), MacKenzie (Cash) Dodds, Colton, Madison, Karsyn, Camryn, Cicily, Coen and her great grandson Benjamin. She is also survived by her 3 sisters, Linda (Ralph) Sallade, Elaine Johnston, and Bonnie (John) Auverson-Sjol.

There will be a private family burial, and her celebration of life will be held on November 24th,

at Anthonys Restaurant in Edmonds, WA 1:00pm-3:00pm.
