Amy Johanna Madigan

Amy Johanna Madigan passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 26, 2018. Born in East Grand Rapids, Michigan on March 16,1948, she was the daughter of George and Judith Mary (Cook) Madigan and one of four children. Amy graduated from Olivet College in Michigan with a B.A. and earned her M.L.S. in Librarianship from the University of Washington.

A longtime resident of Seattle, Amy worked for over 30 years as a law librarian in Seattle law firms. Amy was once a championship ice skater and dearly loved cats and dogs. She loved Truth, the outdoors, plants and flowers, rarely missing a year's journey to the Skagit Valley in tulip season, where she was in special awe of the Snow Geese that flew in splendor every summer. Amy loved ferry boat rides to various nearby communities to explore, walking the beaches and marinas, and had fond memories of spending weekends on a sailboat in the San Juan Islands with her family. She loved to explore all the public Northwest gardens and especially loved the Hawaiian Tropical Botanical Gardens on the Big Island.

She is survived by her nieces Nonnie Van Hoy and Julia Waggener, her grandnephew Nathan Pugh, her Sai sisters and her beloved cat Duffy.

A gathering will be held September 2, 2018 at 2:00 in Hilltop House (1005 Terrace St., Seattle) to celebrate her life with a scrumptious chocolate cake. (Amy loved chocolate!).

Donations in her honor may be made to SMVA Trust http://www.smvatrust.org/
