Allen William Jacobson

Allen William Jacobson passed away peacefully on June 2, 2018 in Poulsbo, Washington.

He was born September 3, 1923 in Santa Monica, California to Allen Wilhelm Jacobson and Greta Percy Jacobson.

In his early years his attention was divided between attending school and swimming in Santa Monica Bay and diving from it's famous pier thus becoming very proficient in both.

An outstanding athlete, he varsity lettered in basketball, baseball and track at Glendale High School in the greater Los Angeles area.

After finishing high school in 1941 he moved with his family to Seattle. Here he was employed by the Sims Drake Construction Company to work on Kodiak Island in Alaska. During World War II he served in the U. S. Army Air Corps stateside and in the Pacific Theater.

Upon discharge in 1945 he returned to Seattle and became Assistant Golf Professional at Rainier Golf Club. Following this he joined the Boeing Company and served 38 years in Facilities Management.

A long term resident of Bainbridge Island he was loved and admired by many especially at Wing Point Golf Club where he worked part time in the pro shop during his retirement years.

Throughout his life he was an avid follower of professional and collegiate sports and was a walking encyclopedia of sports statistics. He especially enjoyed beach combing on Washington's Pacific Coast. But his greatest love was sports fishing which he pursued with great vigor on ponds, lakes, streams, rivers, sounds and oceans. A kind, generous and cheerful person he will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

He is predeceased by his first wife Pat, son Dean, daughter Carol and nephew Erik. He is survived by his second wife Laura, granddaughter Angela (Ian), grandsons Jason Jeffrey and Seth, brother Phil (Effie) nephew Rolf (Mary), niece Christina (Dale) grandnephews and grandnieces Jonathan, Hanna, Christopher, Sarah, Joshua and Maria and great grandchildren Kimberly, Dylan (Angela) Kaylee, Zoey, Riley, Kaydee (Seth) Lucas, Nicholas, Parker, Rowan (Jeffrey).

There will be a family celebration of Al's life.
