Betty Sue Peacock, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on November 12, 2018, in Snohomish, Washington. She was 85. Betty was born November 15, 1932, in Estancia, New Mexico, to Samuel and Hazel Massey. She was the youngest of seven children. Throughout her life, Betty fondly recalled her childhood surrounded by the beauty and tranquility of New Mexico's Glorieta Mesa, where the family lived in a two-room log cabin.
The family moved to Delta, Colorado in 1948, where Betty graduated from Delta High School in 1951. She married George Kent Peacock on November 1, 1952 in Roswell, New Mexico. At the time of their marriage, George was a serviceman in the United States Air Force. As a young family, Betty, George and Scott, their first child, moved frequently to support George's studies and subsequent employment with the Federal Aviation Authority. Their travels took them to Anchorage, Alaska, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Salt Lake City, Utah, Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Denver, Colorado. Later in life, Betty lived in Grand Junction, Colorado and Snohomish, Washington.
Betty enjoyed reading, embroidering, discussing politics, telling stories, listening to country and bluegrass music, and spending time with her family. Betty was deeply committed to her family and dedicated a large part of her life to the care of her children, George Scott Peacock, Amy Georgette Peacock, David Austin Peacock and Dane Warner Peacock. Her unwavering love and support for them will always be remembered.
She is survived by her four children, her son-in-law John Hardin, her daughters-in-law Rose Daley, Rebecca Peacock and Oyunbileg Peacock, her grandchildren Kent Andrew Peacock, Keith Allen Peacock and Trisha Laxmi Peacock, her great-grandchildren Andrew Scott Peacock, Addison Marie Peacock and Dane Cody Peacock, and her siblings E.Y. Massey, Kay Austin Massey and Mary Kathleen Alexander.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her siblings Obera Alameda Engle, Oliver Talmadge Massey and Jack Warner Massey.
A service will take place on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah. She will be dearly missed.
