1941 ~ 2018
Our loving mother and grandmother Annette Ruth Hansen, known as "Woos," age 77, passed away September 25, 2018 due to complications associated with dementia. She will be dearly missed.
Annette was born in Salt Lake City on February 15, 1941 to Clifford and Ruth Peck. She grew up in Sugarhouse and graduated from West High School. Annette married Ralph LeHew Jr. and they had a son, Ralph LeHew III; they later divorced. She began working as a cocktail waitress for Club Continental in downtown Salt Lake City. Later, she was an office assistant at Wells Completion Atlas. Afterward, she worked for the Utah Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. It was at the Commission where Annette met the love of her life, Tom Hansen, whom she married October 8, 1965. They resided in West Valley City and had two children, Toby and Stacy. Annette worked as an executive secretary at Northwest Pipeline for three years.
Tom and Annette built a cabin in 1980 in a beautiful cul-de-sac in the Wasatch mountains in Midway, Utah. Annette enjoyed landscaping, planting flowers, decorating, and cooking. Together they made ample use of the cabin area; boating, fishing at Strawberry Reservoir and Deer Creek and hosted numerous friend and family gatherings. In 1985, while at the cabin she found an abandoned Springer Spaniel puppy whom they adopted and named Muffin. Muffin was with them for 17 wonderful years. Shortly thereafter, Annette rescued another Springer Spaniel, whom Tom named Herman.
Annette is survived by her children: Ralph (Julie) LeHew III of Mesquite, NV; Toby (Jenny) Hansen of Richland, MI; and Stacy (Dave) Willis of Yuba City, CA. She is survived by her grandchildren: Shannon Reyna, Andrea Breeze-Earl, Nina and Zachary Hansen, and Michaela and Michael Willis. Annette is also survived by her brother Terry of St. George, UT. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom, mother Ruth, brother Steve, and father Clifford.
A celebration of Annette's life will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday October 13 at City View Memoriam located at 1001 East 11th Ave. in Salt Lake City, Utah. There will be a visitation period with the family prior to the funeral proceedings. Interment will take place at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Best Friend's Animal Sanctuary 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, Utah 84741 in her memory.
