Alan Williams was born on November 16, 1947, in Garland, Texas, to William J. Williams and Frances McConnell Williams. He passed away on September 14, 2018, in Austin, Texas.
Alan grew up in Houston, graduating from Robert E. Lee High School in 1965 and receiving a bachelor's degree in business administration from The University of Houston in 1969. On January 24th of the same year he married Sandra Rayburn, the love of his life. They would have celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in Hawaii this next January.
Alan began his career in the trust department at Texas Commerce Bank while attending classes at the University of Houston in the evenings. Shortly after his graduation, he pursued an opportunity in technology sales with Inforex, Inc., working in Houston, Akron, Ohio and Greensboro, North Carolina. In 1985, he founded Travis Software, a successful employee benefits software company that he managed until his retirement in 2012, following its sale to Volaris, Inc.
Alan and Sandra are past members of Lakeside Country Club in Houston, Texas, and Galveston Country Club in Galveston, Texas, and are current members of Barton Creek Country Club in Austin, Texas. They enjoyed travelling the globe and spending time with friends at their condo in Coronado, California.
Prior to his retirement, Alan was active in the Young Presidents' Club and the Chief Executive's Network. More recently, he was a board member of Teraphysics Corporation and the Austin Opera. He was also a mentor at Capital Factory, where he invested and assisted other entrepreneurs in pursuing their dreams of starting a business.
In 2017, he and Sandra relocated to Austin, Texas so that they could be more active in the lives of their grandchildren. Alan loved to play golf, try new restaurants and teach his grandchildren how to play tennis, croquet and chess. He never hesitated to give advice and found great joy in helping others achieve success in both their personal and professional lives.
