Augustine Villagomez Jr
1933-2018
Augustine was born in Houston to Agustin and Enedelia Villagomez and grew up in Magnolia Park where he was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
He was a US Navy veteran who proudly served aboard the USS Piedmont in theater during the Korean War. Following an honorable discharge, he returned home where he married his sweetheart Estela Trujillo. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage and had six children.
Augustine, a skilled machinist, was a foreman at CAMCO and Tools International Corporation. He then managed Lathe Products Inc and mentored several family members and friends. A member of Queen of Peace Church in Houston, he coordinated the annual bazaar in the mid 1970's raising funds for the church and school where all of his children attended.
In 1978 Augustine moved his family to Lafayette, Louisiana where he joined his brother Jack in business. He became a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Broussard where he was an usher and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Augustine is preceded in death by his son Alex, daughter Cecilia and siblings Anita, Ramon, Jack, Inez, Luis, and Daniel. He is survived by his wife Estela, children Theresa Nesson, Magdalen Romero, Monica Brown, Phillip Villagomez, daughter in-law Linda, twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings include Carlos Villagomez, Margaret Bazan, Mercedes Gonzalez, Maria Fillingame Buzek and Irene Salazar. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Viewing will be Friday July 27th at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church followed by the funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., and interment at 1:00 P.M. at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas. The family will then host a lunch reception at Hidden Oaks, 7808 Dixie Drive.
