Bernice Rives Snowden
1923-2018
Bernice Rives Snowden (3/21/1923-10/21/2018) On Sunday, October 21, 2018, Bernice Rives Snowden peacefully passed away at the age of 95. Bernice was a proud Texan and lifelong resident of Houston, She graduated from John H. Reagan High School in 1941 and attended Massey Business College. For many years, she worked for Charles G. Heyne and Company. During a time when women were uncommon in the business world, she worked her way from secretary to company officer, a testament to her strong will, work ethic, and determination to succeed. In her personal time, she enjoyed dancing and fishing at her second home on Galveston Bay. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents (Annie and Charles S. Rives), brother (Charles E. Rives), sister (Doris Rives Malina), and her husband of 69 years (Walter Gideon Snowden). She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Bernice "Cookie" Ogden, son-in-law (Gerald Ogden), grandson, Todd, and his wife Becky, and granddaughter, Melissa Epker, and her husband Jake. She is also survived by her four great-grandchildren; Annabelle and Teddy Ogden, Noah and Evie Epker, brother-in-law (William B. Gandin), and numerous nieces and nephews. Bernice was laid to rest at Magnolia Cemetery.
