Ann was born on April 9th in McGregor, Tx. The daughter of William V. and Attie Mae Hanover. She earned a bachelors in Physical Ed. from Texas State College for Women, TWU in 1938 and taught thereafter. Two weeks before Pearl Harbor, 11/23/1941 she married her husband of 62 yrs, Wylie R. Phillips, who served in WW II. Her contributions to society were many; including a member of the PEO and Daughters of the American Revolution. Ann's American heritage traces to before the American Revolution. Her ancestors were among the earliest settlers in Texas who fought for Texas' independence, built schools, and served in the 1843 Rep. of Texas Legislature during Sam Houston's presidency.
Ann is survived by son Wylie Phillips, Jr. and wife Dasha, son Thomas Phillips and wife Susan, and daughter Peggy Slate and husband Larry Slate, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ann is remembered by people who love her as elegant, graceful, beautiful, active, social, amazing cook and world traveler who enjoyed camping, golf, square dancing, and bridge. Her and her husband were fabulous parents, grandparents and great grandparents. www.dignitymemorial.com
A service in honor of her on Friday, October 5th at 10:30 AM at John Wesley United Methodist Church will be held.
