Anne Clancy McVey
1946-2018
Anne Clancy McVey, loving mother and sister, passed away in Urbana, IL on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the age of 72.
Anne was born on July 26, 1946 in Cashel, Co. Tipperary, Ireland. In 1969, she received her RN degree from Whipps Cross University Hospital in London and devoted her life to caring for others. After serving as an ICU nurse in both London and Houston for 11 years, she worked as an RN at the Villa de Matel Convent in Houston until her retirement in 2013, providing care for the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. On March 31, 1984, she married the love of her life, Jim McVey. Together they loved and raised their daughter, Aine.
Anne had a passion for music, white wine, walks on the beach, shrimp and lobster sauce, and drinking a nice cup of Barry's while eating HobNobs and watching Masterpiece Theater mysteries.
She always put the needs of others before herself, and will be remembered always for her charity, love, and unwavering support.
Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Jim. She is survived by her daughter Aine, son-in-law, James, and grandson, Seamus; sister Mary Jo, and brother-in-law Preston; brothers Patrick, Tim, J.C., and sister-in-law Nora; nieces Cordelia and Anna-Marie; and nephew Tim.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 2:00pm, at St. Placidus Chapel, 6510 Lawndale St., Houston, TX. The family invites you to make a donation to Women for Women International (https://www.womenforwomen.org/get-involved) in lieu of flowers. Very special thanks to the staff of Clark-Lindsey Village in Urbana for all their care and support, and to the Sisters, friends, and family for their love and prayers over the years.
