Alex E. Espinoza
1949-2018
Alex passed away surrounded by his loving family on October 31, 2018, at the age of 69. He made a valiant effort to win his second bout with cancer, but coupled with the ravages of the first, it was more than his body could withstand.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Klein Funeral Home located at 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, Texas 77379.
Alex will be forever remembered and cherished by his wife, Shelley of 39 years; son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Rachel; daughter, Sarah; and granddaughter Ella; as well as brother-in-law Mark Abrams who served as his kind and gentle friend and caregiver during this last challenging journey. He will be greatly missed by his loving siblings and their spouses, Gilbert and Veronica; Tony and Rosie; Roy and Debra; Dora and Roman; Debby and Allen, as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and loyal friends. Alex was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Bertha Espinoza, whom he loved and honored, and greatly missed.
Alex served in the US Army after graduating from high school, then attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, where he and Shelley met. After graduating with a commercial art degree, he moved to Houston and began his career with Cameron Iron Works. His employment with Conoco began in 1987 and lasted through to retirement from ConocoPhillips in 2015. He truly cherished the relationships and memories built during his tenure at Conoco, which continued into retirement. Alex enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on projects and time at the lake, and instilled the love of nature in his children.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations to made to MD Anderson, gifts.mdanderson.org. He would want us all to honor him by taking time to love our families.
