(Calvin) Dean Stewart, 94, of Plano, Texas passed away of natural causes Wednesday, July 11, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

Dean was a native of Ludlow, Missouri he was proud to have served in the Army Air Force during W.W.II. After the war he went on to attend the University of Kansas City graduating in 1949 with a degree in Physics. In 1950 he married the love of his life HuDean Grace Tudor of Dawn, Missouri, their marriage of 61 years and Dean's professional career with Geophysical Services International as a Petroleum Geophysicist provided what they both often referred to as the "great adventure" The great adventure carried Dean and his family around the world making their home in Venezuela, England, Australia, Singapore, and England again before returning to the U.S.A. where they made Plano, Texas their home for 39 years.

Dean was a pioneer in his day, remaining global and national professional organizations helped him maintain progressive technical skills throughout his career. He was instrumental in early computer modeling and developing computerized datasets for highly detailed analysis for the location of petroleum deposits. Dean's expertise and his engaging personality often made him sought after for projects all over the world.

After retirement, he spent two years working with the government of China exploring for oil in Inner Mongolia. During his retirement years he became an advocate for senior citizens in the Plano area where he was instrumental in securing funding, approving plans and the building of the Senior Center of Plano, he remained on the board for 25 years. Once the Senior Center was up and running he focused his energy on working with the Department of Housing and Development of Collin County in locating and acquiring property for affordable housing for the senior citizens. Dean often volunteered as a precinct judge in Collin County and many other volunteer opportunities as he believed a good citizen included helping the community. It is evident why the Senior Center of Plano designated him a "Living Legend".

Dean is survived by his brother Richard Stewart, his son John Stewart and wife Cynthia Ximanes-Stewart, their daughter Lauren Stewart, daughter-in-law Sandy Stewart, grandson Jason Cody Stewart, granddaughter Brittany Stewart-Meighan.

At a later date the family will have a memorial in Dawn, MO where his remains will be intured at the Welsh Cemetery. Condolences can be sent to the family in care of John Stewart, 2929 Connecticut Ave. N.W. #501 Washington D.C. 20008.
