ROTKLEIN, Betty Betty Rotklein passed away peacefully on August 10th, 2018 at the age of ninety-five. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry, with whom she spent sixty-four wonderful years, as well as her brother Harold Goldman. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Ricki and Gabriel Shapiro; grandson Joel Shapiro; granddaughter Stacy Shapiro-Hill and her husband Shawn Hill; great granddaughter and great grandson Brittany Shapiro-Hill and Justin Hill. Betty was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on June 9, 1923, the daughter of George and Ida Goldman. She began dating Henry when she was sixteen and they married in New York City in 1941 before he left to serve in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After the war they settled in Oklahoma City and opened a store for children's toys and furniture. Later, during Henry's long and successful career with McGraw-Hill Publishing Company, Betty cared for the family, developed many lifelong friendships, and volunteered in the Oklahoma City Jewish Community. In the historic summer heat wave of 1980, Betty and Henry moved to Dallas to be with her daughter Ricki and her family. Betty will long be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 13th, at Shearith Israel Cemetery, 4634 Dolphin Road in Dallas. For the specific time consult Sparkman-Hillcrest.com or call 214-363-5401.
