HARPER, Alvin Eldridge Alvin Eldridge Harper, a lifelong Oak Cliff resident, died in late August at the age of 79. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Alvin Harper and Ada Evelyn Phipps Harper of Dallas, and brother Jack Layne Harper of DeSoto. He was graduated from Sunset High School, from Rice Institute (now University) with a major in Physics, and from the University of Colorado at Denver with an M.S. degree in Library Science. He was commissioned an officer in the U.S. Army after college. Professionally he was a genealogist. Burial took place at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery. Eldridge was lively, witty, and human. Friends and family bless his soul.
