BAKKEN, Adele Carlson Adele Carlson Bakken peacefully passed away in her Richardson home October 31, 2018, just a few days shy of her 95th birthday. Born to Albert and Anna Carlson on the farm near Finley, North Dakota, she was the third of six children. Adele married Ellsworth Myron "Spud" Bakken in 1954. They were divorced in 1972 before Spud's passing in 1977. Adele never remarried. She loved her family and is survived by her children, Carla Rude, Gary and Liz Bakken, Carol Herrman, and Glen and Laura Bakken. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, sister - Phyllis Grame, and in-laws Laura Jean Carlson, Doug and Mary Bakken and Joy Bakken, and nieces and nephews and their families that number well over 100. Adele had a quick wit and sharp mind until her death. After graduating from Mayville Teachers College, she taught school in rural Hillsboro, ND before moving to San Francisco. Eventually she relocated with her company to Dallas and worked steadily with US Foods until her retirement at the age of 78. She was an active, charter member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church for 62 years. Aside from spending time at her lake house, she enjoyed traveling throughout the US, Europe, Caribbean and Panama. She also liked staying in touch on Facebook and playing Words with Friends, Crossword and Word Search puzzles, reading and reuniting with family and friends in her hometown of Finley, North Dakota. Adele's Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, November 20th at 2 pm at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Richardson. In lieu of flowers, she requested donations be made to , as she was a breast cancer survivor, and/or St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Richardson, TX.
