Enjoyed long career in nursing; loving wife, mother, grandmother
Barbara Marie Waddell (Edson), 79 years of age of Hammonton, N.J., passed peacefully in her home on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
Formerly of Maplewood/ South Orange, N.J., where she attended Columbia High School and married her high school sweetheart, Jim. She was a registered nurse who enjoyed a long career in nursing, most recently in occupational therapy with Prudential. Barbara was a devoted wife and mother to four successful sons. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows in South Orange and an accomplished pianist and piano teacher, but perhaps her biggest legacy was her unbreakable love with Jim.
She was predeceased by her parents, Edwin and Regina Edson (Walsh) and sister, Joan Burrell.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, James P. Waddell Sr.; loving sons, James P. Waddell Jr. (Kenneth Gallaher), Thomas E. Waddell (Lorian Adamucci), Christopher J. Waddell (Charlene Cerato), and John R. Waddell (Christina Rosbert); two sisters, Eileen Iantosca and Judith Griffin (Anthony); grandchildren, Ryan, Sara, Mikayla, Megan, Briana, JT, Jake, and Hannah.
Cremation is being held private for the family. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Nov. 17th in Spring Lake, N.J.; a time and place will be announced.
