Angel Luis Rivera, 72, of Elizabeth, N.J., died on Saturday at Morristown Medical Center, Morristown, N.J.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral from the August F. Schmidt Memorial Funeral Home, 139 Westfield Ave., Elizabeth on Thursday, Jan. 17, at 9:15 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Sienna R.C. Church, Hillside, N.J., at 10 a.m. Visiting is Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Angel was born in Puerto Rico, came to this country and Elizabeth many years ago. He was employed as a custodian for the Elizabeth Board of Education for more than 26 years before retiring in 2011. He was a communicant of St. Catherine of Sienna RC Church, Hillside, N.J.
He is survived by his devoted fiancee, Maureen Nevins, and two brothers, Frank Rivera of Linden and Robert Rivera of Hillside; four sisters, Ramona Erlemann of Allentown, Pa., Norma Aquendo of Texas, Emma Rivera of Elizabeth, and Naomi Reyes of Elizabeth; an aunt, Luiz Aviles of Elizabeth, and several nieces and nephews.
