Former Newark patrolman, business owner and auto enthusiast
Alfonse Raimo, 82, passed away on Sept. 29, 2018 surrounded by close family at his home in Manchester, N.J.
The funeral will be from the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave., Union, N.J. on Friday at 8:15 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be in Holy Spirit Church in Union at 9:30 a.m. Entombment will follow in Hollywood Memorial Park also in Union. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m.
Alfonse was born and raised in Newark, N.J., where he served as a patrolman with the motorcycle unit of the Newark PD before owning an auto body repair shop in Bloomfield, N.J. He later became an insurance adjuster for Harleysville Insurance until his retirement.
Al was an avid boater, enjoyed softball and bowling, and was an auto enthusiast.
Al will forever be remembered for his sense of humor, his generous spirit, but most of all his love for his family.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Angela (Lillian) nee Lanza; son, Alan and wife, Tracey; son, Christopher with Heather; sister, Dr. Angela M. Raimo, Esq.; brothers-in-law, John Lanza and Joe Lombardo; nieces, Marissa and Jennifer, and grandchildren, Liliana and Dominick.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that you make memorials to The , Greater New Jersey Chapter 425 Eagle Rock Ave., No. 203, Roseland, N.J. 07068.
