Barrett "Barry" Jay Petry, 86, of Boonton, N.J., passed away on Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, after a brief illness.
Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Ave., Boonton, on Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at St. John's Episcopal Church, 226 Cornelia St. in Boonton on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 11 a.m. To share a condolence or a memory, visit codeymackeyfh.com.
Born in Stamford, Conn. and raised in Mountain Lakes, N.J., Barry was the son of the late Martin and Bergliot Petry. After graduating from Mountain Lakes High School, Barry moved to Toronto, Canada, to live with his father. He attend Danforth Technical School. He then proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Toronto and married the love of his life, Jessica Stuart Archibald in June of 1957. Shortly thereafter they made their home in Boonton, where they raised their family. Barry and his wife, Jessica loved living in Boonton as well as time spent each summer in Ocean City, N.J.
Barry was a quality control engineer with Aircraft Radio Corporation in Boonton Township for most of his career.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 61 years, Jessica of Boonton; devoted children, Kevin (Kristin) of Boonton, and Sharon Bittman (the late Andrew) of Far Hills, N.J., loving grandchildren, Jillian, Ryan and Clayton Petry, and Samantha and Riley Bittman.
