Loving wife and mother, grandmother of 17, lived in Perth Amboy
Blanca Nieves, 71, of Kissimmee, Fla. (formerly of Perth Amboy, N.J.) passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2018. She was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico, on March 22, 1947. Blanca worked at the N.J. Veterans Home in Menlo Park, N.J., until she retired in 2004.
Visitation is Thursday, Oct. 25, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Osceola Memory Gardens, Poinciana Chapel, 3175 Pleasant Hill Rd., Poinciana, Fla. 34746.
The service is Thursday, Oct. 25, at 6 p.m. at Osceola Memory Gardens, Poinciana Chapel.
Blanca was preceded in death by her parents, Emilio Colon and Aurora Arocho, and her three brothers, Higinio Bermudez, Francisco Bermudez, and Rafael Colon, and grandchidren, Jose Rivera and Justin Rivera.
Her love and memories will always be cherished by her loving husband, Joaquin C. Nieves; sisters, Auria Ramos (Juan); Diana Velez (Israel); Olga Torres; Milagros Cruz, and her brother, Emilio Colon Jr.
She is also survived by her sons, Jose Rivera (Dulce); Angel Rivera (Koneta); Manuel Rivera (Rebecca); Carlos Rivera (Helen); James Rivera (Carmen); Joaquin Nieves Jr. (Elizabeth), and daughter, Cecilia Nieves and companion, Amanda. She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
