Mass is Thursday for family matriarch, former Elizabeth resident
Ann E. Murphy, 95, of Whiting, N.J., passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, at Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus in Lakewood, N.J. Ann was born and raised in Elizabeth, N.J. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Flynn.
Ann worked for the Elizabeth Board of Education, retiring in 1989. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.
Ann was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Francis X. Murphy, in 1999; her son, Vincent de Paul Murphy in 2015, and 11 of her siblings. She is survived by two sons, Francis X. Murphy Jr. and Timothy S. Murphy; eight daughters, Mary Ann Murphy, Margaret M. Misdom, Roberta M. Murphy, Kathleen M. Mendes, Brigid M. Sisk, Sheila M. Soares, Elizabeth R. Habit, and Madeline M. Kelly; one sister, Catherine Huffenus; 29 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Rd., Whiting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday, Oct. 18 at 10:45 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C.
