Beloved mother and grandmother, Rahway resident since her 30s
Anne (Ragan) McGurr, age 96, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018, after a brief illness.
She was born on Sept. 30, 1922 in Jersey City, N.J., to the late John and Mary Ragan. A graduate of Lincoln High School in Jersey City, she worked at Western Electric in Kearny, N.J., before her marriage.
Anne resided in Rahway, N.J., for the past 61 years and was a parishioner at Divine Mercy Roman Catholic Parish in Rahway, formerly known as St. Mary's.
Anne was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. McGurr, and the loving mother of Gail Mandracchia and her husband, John; Joseph, John, and Gregory McGurr and his wife, Lisa.
She was a devoted grandmother to Sean McGurr and his wife, Jessica, and Ryan McGurr and his wife, Amylynn, and Katherine, Christopher, Robert and Carolyn Mandracchia. She was a dear great-grandmother to Colin and Emma McGurr.
Anne was a special sister to Michael Ragan and his wife, Jean, and the late John Ragan, Mary Ragan and John "Jack" Ragan Jr., and caring sister-in-law to Maryann Ragan. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and her best friend, Ruth Carroll.
She leaves behind her faithful feline companion, Cloudy. Anne enjoyed cooking, reading, painting, and her monthly trips to Atlantic City. However, she was the happiest when spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 29, 2018 at 10:15 a.m. from The Corey-Ragan Funeral Home, 259 Elm Ave., Rahway, thence to Divine Mercy Parish for a 11 a.m. funeral liturgy. Interment is St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, N.J. Visitation is on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at funeral home.
