Anthony J. Leone, 90, of West Caldwell, N.J., passed away on Nov. 10, 2018.
Relatives and friends are invited for visitation on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Shook-Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland Ave., Roseland, N.J. 07068. A Catholic prayer service will be offered at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private. Condolences and memories may be shared at shookfarmer.com.
Anthony was born to John and Concetta Leone in Montclair, N.J., grew up in Verona, N.J., and settled in West Caldwell over 60 years ago. He graduated from Essex County Technical High School and enlisted in the Air Force. During the Korean War, he served as a flight-line mechanic, servicing and maintaining F-86 fighter aircraft.
After being honorably discharged, Anthony went on to work for Braniff Airlines for 27 years. Later, he was a building facility engineer for the New Jersey State Police until his retirement. Anthony holds a patent for an oil pressure guardian used in automobiles. He had a passion for all things related to aviation and mechanics. Anthony cherished spending time with his grandchildren and taking road trips, exploring flea markets, garage sales, and tinkering in his workshop.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 61 years, Dolores R. (Bagnole) Leone; devoted children, Lloyd Leone and his wife, Susan and Carole Leone; loving grandchildren, Krista and Ryan; caring nephew, Wayne Sandifer and his wife, Pam, and many other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, John, Michael, Rocco, and Rose.
