It is with great sadness thR the family of Anthony Horning Sr. of Basking Ridge, N.J., announces his passing on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, at the age of 73 years.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 26, from 2 to 4 and and 6 to 8 p.m. at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave., Basking Ridge, N.J. 07920. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Seney Dr., Bernardsville, N.J. 07924. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge.
Anthony was born in Bernardsville on Jan. 28, 1945. After graduating from Bernards High School he made Bernardsville and Basking Ridge his home. In 1987, he started his company, Somerset County Electric, and continued serving the electrical needs of this area right until the end.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Antoinette (Santillo) Horning.
Anthony will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Joan, and his children, Christine Flack, Anthony Horning Jr., Melissa Horning; son-in-law, Kenneth Flack; and grandchildren, Gabriela and Benjamin Flack. He will also be fondly remembered by his siblings, Thomas, Joanne, Barbara, Joyce, and John.
Anthony enjoyed sports, golf, classic cars, gardening, and spending time with his family.
He will be remembered as a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Anthony was admired and loved as a man with a heart of gold who would always be ready to lend a helping hand. He had a great sense of humor, lived hard/played hard, and was larger than life.
His presence will be immensely missed but his spirit and love will live within us forever.
