Adrianne J. Hanks of Asbury Park, N.J., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Nov. 23, 2018.
A viewing will be held from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the Doyle Funeral Home, 106 Maple Ave., Morristown, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Assumption, Morristown, on Thursday, Nov. 29, at 10 a.m.
Adrianne was born in Hoboken, N.J., the second of three children of Harold and Catherine Sullivan. She attended St. Elizabeth's College and Jersey City State College. She was a Catholic school teacher for more than 35 years, most recently at Assumption School in Morristown.
A lifelong Democrat, she was active in local politics and sat on the Board of Education in South Bound Brook, N.J., where she later served as Director of Public Assistance, a position she held for 10 years.
In 1998, she earned a certificate in Coordinator of Religious Education from St. Elizabeth's. She went on to serve as Director of Religious Education for Our Lady of Mount Virgin in Middlesex, N.J., St. Peter's in New Brunswick, N.J., and Christ the King in New Vernon, N.J.
Adrianne was predeceased by her parents, and a sibling, Sister Marianne Sullivan. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Robert) Boss; son, Edward (Lisa) Hanks; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother, John Sullivan, and countless friends and former students.
