Aerospace engineer and ordained elder, formerly of Bloomfield
Arthur S. Grenell, 90, passed away on Nov. 13, 2018 in Newton, N.J.
Born to Arthur F. and Grace Grenell on March 30, 1928 in Chicago, he was raised in Montclair, N.J. He earned engineering degrees at the University of Michigan and Newark College of Engineering. Art proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as an officer on the USS Lake Champlain and USS Wisconsin.
A resident of Bloomfield, N.J., for many years, he worked at Singer-Kearfott in Wayne, N.J., as an aerospace engineer.
Art was a true gentleman who was involved in many church and community activities. He served as an ordained elder at Watchung Presbyterian Church for many years. Art enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, and gardening, as well as traveling. He greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, who will miss him dearly.
Art was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Carolyn. He is survived by their children, Thomas of Emporia, Va.; Nancy and her husband, James, of Wantage, N.J., and James and his wife, Brigitte, of West Chester, Pa., as well as grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler and Sarah Grenell and Joseph Barta.
A private burial service was held on Nov. 17 at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover, N.J., under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home, 27 Third Street, Sussex, N.J. 07461. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
