Picatinny Arsenal retiree greatly enjoyed bowling and golf
Albert "Al" Gonsiska Jr., 80, passed away peacefully on Nov. 12, 2018, at his home in Flanders, N.J. Albert was predeceased by his parents, Susan and Albert Gonsiska.
He was born and raised in Passaic, N.J., and was a graduate of Passaic H.S. and Fairleigh Dickinson University with a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering. Al retired from Picatinny Arsenal in 2004 after 42 years of service.
Al enjoyed bowling and golf. He was past president and association manager of Morris County Bowling Association, which he served for 40 years. He was also involved in the State Bowling Association and was on the County and State Hall of Fame for his service. He received many awards for his accomplishments with the bowling community. Golf was also a favorite sport. He was a member of the Picatinny Golf Club. Al was a member of NARFE and served as a director.
He leaves his wife of 56 years, Miriam, daughter, Alisa and her husband, Joseph Unitsz, of Flanders, N.J., son, Michael and his wife, Danielle, of Columbus, Ohio, and his precious grandsons, Tyler Untisz, Max and Luke Gosiska. Al had one brother, Allen and his wife, Jacqueline, of Beaver Creek, Ohio and a niece, Michelle and nephew, Philip.
Visitation is Sunday, Nov. 18, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 Route 10, Randolph, N.J. (www.tuttlefh.com). Funeral service is Monday, Nov. 19 at 10 a.m., also at the funeral home.
