SEAVEY ANNE MUNGER SEAVEY Anne died on August 17, 2018 in Yarmouth MA at the age of 98. Born in Dayton OH to Martha Barney Munger and Harry Loomis Munger, she was raised in the Oakwood section of the city where she was a proud graduate of Oakwood High School (Class of 1938). Upon graduation, Anne matriculated at Vassar College from which she graduated in 1942. Many of her classmates became dear and life-long friends, and for many years she relished her role as Class Agent. Anne then moved to Washington at the height of World War II in order to work for US Army Intelligence. In Washington, she met the love of her life, Hollis M. (Bun) Seavey, who served in US Navy Intelligence; they were married in 1942 in Dayton. After a stint in Oklahoma City where Hollis was a radio broadcaster, Anne and Hollis returned to the Washington area where they raised their children Kate, Mac, and Jim. Apart from a brief period in Cumberland MD where Hollis fulfilled his life-long dream of owning and operating a radio station, Anne and Hollis were proud to call Bethesda's Westmoreland Hills their home. Anne was a dedicated volunteer in the community, serving for a number of years at the circulation desk of The Little Falls Public Library, at the Montgomery County chapter of the League of Women Voters where she served as President, and at All Saints Episcopal Church in Chevy Chase, MD. Anne actively encouraged the her children in everything from foreign language lessons to scouting to musical performances. In 1978, Anne and Hollis retired to East Sandwich MA where she was actively involved in the Sandwich Community Preservation Committee. Hollis suffered a stroke in 1981, and until his death in 1995, Anne was his dedicated and loving caregiver. In 2002, she moved to Heatherwood in Yarmouth Port, where she often observed that "the people here are so interesting!" Throughout her life, Anne was known by friends and family alike as a skilled and savvy bridge player, a passionate and voracious reader (even when legally blind in her later years), and a joyous and generous host to friends and strangers alike. She was a great storyteller, and loved engaging any and everyone in the art of conversation. Anne is survived by her daughter, The Rev. Katherine Seavey Bryant of Leesburg, VA; her sons, Hollis Mackay Seavey, Jr. (Jennifer) of Damascus MD; and James Perrine Seavey, Sr. (Mary) of Monrovia MD; her grandson, James Perrine Seavey, Jr. (Justine) of Rockville MD; and nephews Barney Munger (Mary) of Clallam Bay WA and Philip Munger (Nancy) of Parkersburg WV as well as several godchildren. She was predeceased by her husband as well as her two brothers, Warren Munger and James Perrine Munger. Anne's ashes will be scattered upon Cape Cod Bay in a private family service at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Vassar College, Office of Alumnae Affairs and Development, Box 14, 161 College Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 or Hope Hospice, 73 Service Road, Sandwich, MA 02537.
