On Sunday, October 7, 2018, Arlene Schlein Golub (Jerome, deceased) passed away peacefully at Potomac Valley Nursing Home in Rockville, MD, at age 83. A Washingtonian by birth, Arlene moved to Silver Spring in 1962 and Rockville in 1970. Born in Washington in 1935 to Maurice and Rose (Berman) Schlein, Arlene attended Roosevelt High School. She graduated from George Washington University in Washington, DC in 1962 with a B.A. in Art History.After attaining the American Society of Interior Design designation, Arlene worked as an interior designer in the interior decorating department at major DC retail establishments including Sloanes, Hechts, Woodward & Lothrop throughout the 1960's before establishing her own business, Arlene Golub Interiors, which she worked in as the principal, for over 30 years. Besides her own business in interior design, Arlene loved to shop and obtain unique antiques for her clients, her friends and for her own home, to add that something extra to the décor and design motifs. She also collected special sets of decorative crystal balls, displayed prominently throughout her home.Arlene will be cherished and long remembered by her two sons, Jonathan (Shari) and Ian (Shannon) Golub; her older sister Janet Steinberg; her younger brother Arnold Schlein; and her six loving grandchildren, Rebecca, Ari, Jeremy, Henry, Jerry and Hugh. Arlene's life will be commemorated on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 10 a.m. Temple Beth Ami, 14330 Travilah Road, Rockville, MD.
