September 3, 1938 - September 30, 2018 Benjamin Otto Arnold Werle was born September 3, 1938 in Rockford, Illinois, to Otto P. and Hermine (Hachenberg) Werle. He was raised in Oxen Hill, Maryland, and attended the University of Maryland where he graduated with a degree in electrical engineering and entered the Air Force as an officer, serving from 1958-1963. He then moved out to California where he worked for Hughes Aircraft Co. while attending USC and earned a Master's degree in Engineering and Science. During this time he met and married his loving wife of 51 years, Sue. They lived in England for 2 years and, later, in Germany for 3. The majority of their married life was spent in Woodland Hills, CA. Ben was a devout Christian. He served as an Elder at West Valley Bible Chapel. And then transitioned to Agoura Bible Chapel and Avenue 54. During his career Ben specialized in radar and satellite technology. He worked for companies in California, England, Germany, and at NATO sites throughout Europe. He enjoyed water skiing, rebuilding Triumph TR 4's and 5's, and tennis. He was awarded one patent and was published multiple times in articles in IEEE magazine. Ben was preceded in death by his parents as well as a sister, Christel MacLeod, and brother Christian Werle. He is survived by his wife Sue of San Luis Obispo, CA, son Kurt of San Luis Obispo, CA, daughter Kat of Winthrop, WA; and two sisters, Mimi Stricklin of Morristown, TN, and Ruth James of Mosheim, TN. A memorial service will be held for Ben on Saturday, October 6th at 10:30 am at Agoura Bible Fellowship, 5564 Foothill Dr., Agoura Hills.
