January 11, 1932 - October 17, 2018 Barton Ellis Rivin was born on January 11, 1932 to Rose and David Rivin in Sioux City, Iowa. He grew up in Tyndall, South Dakota with his sister, Marilyn (husband Jerry Lapidus) and his brother, Harley, who passed on at an early age. Bart moved to Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California, where he pledged the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity and started his lifelong love of the Trojans. He stayed in Los Angeles after graduating, starting a family, and a successful career in real estate investment. Bart had many passions in his life, including his many years spent marlin fishing off his boat, Bravado, and as an avid golfer, achieving seven hole-in-ones as a member of Brentwood Country Club and later Morningside Country Club. Bart was well known and respected in the community of Los Angeles, where he raised his family, and Rancho Mirage, where he spent most of the later part of his life. Though he had many accomplishments, to Bart, his greatest achievement was his family. Together with his first wife, Carol Rivin Wiseman, they had four children: Linda (husband Stan) Bernstein, Cynthia (husband Charles) Eberly, the late James (wife Antonia) Rivin, and Cheryl Rivin, eight grandchildren, Deena, Kevin, Matthew, Jenna, Jason, Lisa, Aaron, and Jessi, and eleven great-grandchildren. Bart found his life partner and soul mate, Penny Rivin, and they married in 2008. Together they surrounded their life with love and laughter. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held Friday, October 19th at 11 in the morning at Hillside Memorial Park with gathering to follow at Brentwood Country Club. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that a donation be made in his name to the .
