Alice H. Deckert, age 86, of Union, N.J., and Ocean Beach, N.J., passed away on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018. She was born Aug. 10, 1932 in Newark, N.J., to the late John and Katy Kreitz.
A vistation for Alice will be held Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018 from 2 to 6 p.m. at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union, N.J. A Mass will be celebrated Monday, Nov. 12, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit, 971 Suburban Rd, Union, N.J. An entombment will occur Monday, Nov. 12, 2018 from 12 noon to 12:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, 1100 E Broad St., Westfield, N.J. 07090.
Alice was a hostess and cashier with the Kenilworth Diner in Kenilworth, N.J., for 14 years prior to her retirement. She also owned a gift shop located at Cal Deckert and Sons Company in Union. Alice also worked as a secretary for Doran Ford in Union, Maplewood Volkswagen and Rolls Royce.
Alice owned racehorses and she and the family enjoyed weekends watching her horses run at Monmouth Park. She loved shopping, especially at TJ Max, Marshalls and Home Goods.
Alice was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert T. Deckert Sr., and her dear siblings, Mary Kretchmer, Joseph Kreitz and Dorothy Anscheutz. She is survived by her devoted sons, Robert T. Deckert Jr. and Christopher J. Deckert, and her loving grandson, Robert T. Deckert III.
