'Her first priority was always her family'
Catherine Theresa "Kay" Cass died peacefully at home Jan. 10, 2019, surrounded by her family.
Born in Jersey City, N.J., on Oct. 27, 1932, to Edward Reynolds and Mary (Shea) Reynolds, Kay was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School in West New York, N..J, and began employment at MetLife, NYC.
Kay was married to the love of her life, Gene, for 64 years, until his death in 2018. She is survived by her five children, Mary Lou Skillin (John), Peg (Denise), Gene Jr., Cathy Bachmann (Steve), Bob (Carmen) and granddaughters, Kate and Molly Bachmann.
Red-haired with a vivacious personality, Kay was the family genealogist traveling to libraries near and far to complete her family tree. A lifelong Democrat, she had a keen interest in social justice. Kay enjoyed bird watching, following the Giants and the Mets, and gourmet cooking. She had a talent for fashion, sewing her own clothes as well as her children's, and she always looked like she stepped out of the pages of Vogue Magazine. Beautiful as she was, her first priority was always her family.
