PASTERNACK, ANNETTE ("Midge"), passed away as a youthful and vibrant 89 year old on November 6, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Midge was born in the Bronx, New York and raised her family in Livingston, New Jersey, Kansas City, Kansas and Tampa, Florida before moving to Boynton Beach, Florida where she lived for approximately 20 years. For the past three years Midge has lived at The Palace in Coral Gables where she continued to blossom--making many new friends, leading current event discussions and taking full advantage of the activities at The Palace. Just three weeks ago, Midge told her family how much she loved her life and living at The Palace. A woman of valor and strength of character, Midge stood for what she believed was right. Her family is proud of the fact that she was the first woman president in the history of the Tampa Jewish Community Center, participated in the National Organization for Women's March in Washington, DC in 1989 and at age 82 earned a "pin" for dedicating over 1,000 hours to volunteering at Bethesda Memorial Hospital in Boynton Beach. Midge's family and friends were the focal points of her life and we were blessed by the fact that she was a "giver", and in so being, she gave us a lifetime of wonderful memories. She also blessed her family and friends with her pearls of wisdom--so called "Midgisms." She will most certainly be missed, but will never be forgotten. Her memory would not be served unless her family mentioned her love of chocolate (of every size and shape), progressive politics and the Atlanta Braves. Midge is survived by her children, Marshall (Shelly Rubin), Bruce (Susan Gladstone) and Dana, her sister, Selma Golub of Lake Worth, her grandchildren Jake (Emma), Alex (and his girlfriend Rebecca), Zoie, Bari, Ross and Erin and the most recent apple of her eye, her Great Granddaughter Mia. She is also survived by her loving caregiver and friend Tomasa Zavala, whose love and caring for Midge was never-ending. Midge was predeceased by her parents, Irving and Harriet Garber, her husband, Zen, her favorite cousin Shirley Levy and her best friend Irene Krinsky. Services will be held at Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapel at Mount Nebo (Kendall) on November 8, 2018, at 2:00 PM, 5900 S.W. 77th Avenue, Miami, Florida 33143. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the in her memory.
