BOELENS ANN ELIZABETH WALDIE BOELENS Ann Elizabeth Waldie Boelens died September 29, 2018. She was 64 years old. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, on September 3, 1954, she was the second child and only daughter of William Alexander Waldie and Barbara Waldron Waldie. Ann was a devout Christian, and her strong personal faith shaped her close relationships with family, friends and those in need. Her faith also formed the foundation for her interest in volunteerism, which was a driving force throughout her life. She also was a gifted athlete. She received her degree in Physical Education and Biology from Trinity University in 1976, and taught at the elementary, junior high and high school levels in both the United States and Germany as an Army wife. Ann received multiple professional and volunteer awards and honors throughout her lifetime. Most notably, she received the National Military Family Association's ArmyVolunteer of the Year Award in 1996. This was preceded by multiple other presti- gious awards for volunteer service within the Army community. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, James S. Boelens; her son, David J. Boelens and his wife, Rachel; her daughter, Jamie A. Boelens; three grandchildren, Caden, Laine and Elise Boelens; her mother, Barbara W. Waldie; her brother, William A. Waldie, Jr.; her mother-in-law, Joan H. Boelens; her brother-in-law, John A. Boelens and his wife, Susan; her brother-in-law, R. Mark Boelens and his wife, Pamela; and by one nephew and two nieces, along with countless friends. She was preceded in death by her father, William A. Waldie. The Christian Witness to the Resurrection will be conducted at First Presbyterian Church, 602 White Hills Drive, Rockwall, TX on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018 at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, TX on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Ann's memory to the .In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Ann's memory to the .
