Arlene Platten passed away after a five-year battle with cancer, on November 13, 2018, at age 62. Arlene was a lifelong L.A. and Redondo Beach resident. Graduated high school from Notre Dame Academy in L.A., B.A. and M.A. from LMU, M.A. and Ed.D. from USC. Beloved teacher for 36 years at Norwood (LAUSD) and 3 years at St. Joseph's (Hawthorne). Loved for her dignity, dedication, determination, and grit. She spoke 4 languages fluently and loved to travel the world. Arlene is survived by her husband, Jeff, and 2 children, Andrea and Joseph.Funeral Mass is Monday, November 19, at 10 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church.
