Gerald Hassan, son of Max and Bella Hassan (Hasensprung), passed away in his home in Brentwood CA in the presence of his wife of 62 years, Erika Hassan, on December 28, 2018. Gerald was first and foremost a kind and loving husband, a wonderful father to his 3 children, Vivian, Gina and Paul, a loving father-in-law to Mike and David, and a beloved grandfather to his 3 grandchildren, Caitlin, Anya, and Gabriel. He was born in 1927 in Bronx New York. During his last year in high school he enrolled in the Navy and was stationed in Japan when the war ended. Following discharge from the Navy he attended Hunter College as a GI and then obtained a masters in psychology at Columbia Univeristy and a medical school degree from SUNY Downstate, where he met Erika. They married in 1956 and moved to the Golden State. Gerry had an active life as a radiologist. He had a warm smile and exuded kindness and compassion. He was a passionate runner, a lover of music, primarily jazz, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed deeply by his suvriving family and friends. Services will be held at Eden Memorial Cemetery (818.361.7161) on Thursday, January 3rd at 11:00 a.m.
