Alfred C. Galinato

Faleceu

November 30, 1959 - December 30, 2018 Alfred Galinato passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018 after a challenging illness. He endured his four-month struggle with cancer with the same strength, dignity, and composure he had exhibited throughout his life. He was surrounded by his family and close friends. He was 59. Alfred was born to Januaria "Norie", and Alfredo Galinato, Sr. in Manila, Philippines, and moved to the United States in May 1971 with his family. He was raised in the Philippines and in Los Angeles. He attended Belmont High School and then went on to Cal State University, Northridge where he obtained a degree in Business Administration in 1982. In 1983, shortly after college, Alfred began his career in insurance. He was an aviation insurance broker and spent his entire 35-year professional life in that field working for Marsh & McLennan Cos., as well as Johnson & Higgins, AON, and Willis North America. To his co-workers and friends, Alfred was a dedicated aviation insurance professional, a trusted colleague and a loyal friend. Not only was Alfred an expert in his field, he was a hard worker and a mentor/teacher to many; he was also a great person to be around with his laid back demeanor, enjoyment of people, and humorous personality. In October 1981, Alfred met his future wife, Cora Rodriguez, at a bowling alley while out with friends. Two months later, they had their first date at the Castaway restaurant in Burbank and were married in August 1990. Alfred loved going to the beach, watching movies and sports, going to concerts, hanging out with friends and family, barbequing, and relaxing at home with his wife and dogs. He enjoyed traveling and was a food enthusiast who loved different cuisines from all over the world. I'm sure they'll have his table ready for him in heaven. The asparagus will miss him! Through all of Alfred's many accomplishments, you never heard him talk about himself, he was more interested in hearing about you. He was a humble man. To those who knew him, he was highly respected and admired. Alfred will be remembered for his sense of humor and easygoing manner, his wisdom, strength of character, devotion to his wife, and kind and generous heart. Alfred is survived by his wife of 28 years, Cora, his mother Norie, siblings Tes, Alfredo Jr., Nellie (Rady), Alan, and Jocelyn (Jim), nieces Emily and Audrey (Ubuild), nephew Rodney, great-nieces and nephews, Darlene, Arule, Freedom, Ilove, and King, and his loyal dog Emjai, all of whom he loved and touched deeply. A viewing will be held at the Eternal Valley Memorial Park & Mortuary – Chapel of the Oaks in Newhall, CA, on January 10th, and 11th, 4-8pm on both days. The funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Newhall, CA, on Saturday, January 12th, at 12:15pm.
