Ann Bartlett Montagne, 81, of Monticello, Mississippi, formerly of Houston, passed away December 21, 2018.
Ann was born in Houston, January 17, 1937, to Dr. Henry Leigh Bartlett and Valine Bass Bartlett. Growing up, she designed her own clothes, engaged in assorted musical performances, was active in Houston social circles and was pleased to call Miss Ima Hogg her friend. She graduated from the Rice Institute in 1959, where she met her former husband.
After her children were grown, she became a realtor in Houston and was active in the Houston Association of Realtors. She also played important roles in assorted other businesses.
She loved music, art and literature, with a particular love for opera and Beethoven. She was very fond of reading, possessing an extensive library that included works of history, philosophy, art, music, biographies, and a wide assortment of novels and literature, and many, many cookbooks. An avid and creative cook, she was skilled in many different styles and cuisines. Even after she no longer felt like doing much actual cooking, she continued to enjoy reading cookbooks.
Ann is survived by her son and daughter in law, Michael and Tammy Montagne, of Houston, her daughter and son in law, Laura and Kevin Magee, of Monticello, Mississippi, her sister and brother in law, Diana and Robert Bender, of Washington, Texas, and her twelve grandchildren, Joshua, Julie, David (his wife, Sarah), Timothy, Abigail, Elijah, Ruth, Caleb, Hannah, Malachi, Faith, and Deborah. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held at the Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello, Mississippi on Dec 21, 2018. Burial will take place at Glenwood Cemetery in Houston on Jan 11, 2019 at 1:00.
