Brett McDonald Ashton Social worker, Navy veteran Brett McDonald Ashton, 51, made his transition on Aug. 22, 2018. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Deliverance Jesus is Coming, 815 Springfield Ave., Irvington, N.J. Entombment is in Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, N.J. Visitation is on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are by Whigham Funeral Home. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Brett was resident of Newark, N.J. He received his master's degree in social work in 2012. He was employed at United Healthcare as a social worker. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and a member of Deliverance Jesus Is Coming. Brett was the beloved son of the late Herman and Hilda Ashton, and devoted brother of Natasha, Dolores Benn (Elroy), Elroy, Garnet, Gaston, Denevi (Lezina) and Ronald. He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.
