Arturo Manuel Garcia
1940-2018
Arturo Manuel Garcia entered eternal rest on August 18, 2018 at the age of 77. He graduated from the University of Houston receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1975, and pursued graduate studies in Educational Leadership.
He went on to serve as an HISD school home community agent, attendance specialist, teacher, and Assistant Principal. Always willing to serve he also served in the United States Air Force for four years and later in life served as a lector, usher, and as a member of the Parish Council at St. Christopher Catholic Church.
Arturo enjoyed cooking, gardening, and tennis. He also enjoyed devoting time volunteering to help veterans.
He is preceded in death by his only son, David A. Garcia; he is survived by his wife of 50 years Herlinda Garcia and beloved grandson David A. Garcia II.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018 at Morales Funeral Home, 2901 Canal St. Houston, TX 77003 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Rosary will be recited in Arturo's honor that evening at 6:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 8150 Park Pl Blvd, Houston, TX 77017 on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8601 Almeda Genoa Rd. Houston TX 77075.
