Christopher Brand Koep Taught visual arts at Raritan Valley CC and exhibited his paintings widely Christopher Brand Koep passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 14, 2018, after a battle with a sudden illness. Friends and relatives may gather on Sunday, Aug. 19, from 2 until 5 p.m., and on Monday, Aug. 20, from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m., at the Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m., on Monday, Aug. 20, at the Immaculate Conception Church, 316 Old Allerton Rd., Annandale, N.J. 08809. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Chris was born April 14, 1953, in Newark, N.J., son of the late Sebastian L. and Margaret B. Koep. A resident of Hunterdon County, Chris could often be found out and about in the community he loved. He was a communicant at Immaculate Conception Church in Clinton Township. He earned his B.F.A. at Syracuse University, and his M.F.A. at Pratt Institute. He later received grants to Yaddo, MacDowell, and Millay art colonies. He taught visual arts at R.V.C.C. for over 30 years, and was a prolific painter. He exhibited his work in many solo and faculty art shows, as well as in gallery spaces throughout New Jersey. His exuberant energy touched the lives of his family, friends, students, co-workers, and members of the community. Chris is survived by his brothers, Greg and Tom; and his sister, Peggy; his sister-in-law, Mary; nephews, Lazarus and wife, Lisa, Jonas and wife, Stephanie, Darius, and Noah; niece, Britta and husband, Michael; grandnieces, Lily, Adeline, and Georgia, and numerous cousins. Chris was passionate about travel, art, gardening, and family. His kindness, generosity, big heart, and vibrant spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
