Carol Ann Garth Mass is on Monday for mother of five and grandmother Carol Ann (Carr) Garth, 81, of Bloomfield, N.J., peacefully passed away on Aug. 16, 2018. Friends and family are welcome to visit from 3 to 7 p.m., on Sunday, Aug. 19, at Halpin-Bitecola Funeral Home, 1284 Broad St., Bloomfield. A Catholic Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 20, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 60 Byrd Ave., in Bloomfield. Interment will follow at Crest Haven Cemetery. Carol was born to the late Thomas and Catherine Carr on Jan. 31, 1937. Mrs. Garth graduated from St. Luke's High School in Paterson, N.J. After raising her five children, she went back into the work force as an office manager with Bury and Associates in Montclair, N.J., retiring after 25 years. Mrs. Garth was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. A skilled knitter, she volunteered with the Shawl Ministry at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, making prayer shawls and baby hats for those in need. Carol was a kind woman who leaves cherished memories with all who knew her. Mrs. Garth is survived by her five children, Allen and his wife, Geovana, Janet and her husband, Dean Heagle, Andrew and his wife, Michele, Jean and her husband, Eric Rothrock, and Joyce and her husband, Kieran Husk, and her 10 grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Thomas Carr and Kevin Carr, and sisters, Anita Heacook and Marguerite Schwarz. Mrs. Garth was preceded in death by her husband, Alpha Garth, in 2017.
