Allen A.B. Herman, MBBS, PhD  
On August 6, 2018 from intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and related complications. Born in Germiston, South Africa, he completed his medical degree at the University of Natal and doctoral degree in epidemiology at the University of the Witwatersrand. He was involved in many projects throughout his career; most notably, serving as the Founding Dean of the National School of Public Health in Pretoria. In the US, he is survived by his spouse, Deborah M. Smith, MD, MPH and their children, Andrew Mabuza Martin, Robia Adina Rae and Nicholas Gqirana Martin Smith-Herman.For a celebration of his life and loves all are invited to gather at 10 a.m. on October 27, 2018 in the Robert L Smith Meeting Room, Sidwell Friends School, 3825 Wisconsin Ave, Washington, DC.
