Brian K. Lewinstein

Faleceu

July 14, 1995 - August 12, 2018 Brian left us suddenly, and far too soon. His love of nature ended in a tragic hiking accident in southwest Oregon. He attended Palisades Charter High School, where he was a National Merit Scholar finalist, baseball player, and mock trial participant. He earned his BA in Political Science from UCLA where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. At UCLA, Brian pledged Lambda Chi Alpha and enjoyed going to numerous football, basketball and baseball games rooting on his beloved Bruins. This past June, Brian finished his first year of law school at Berkeley, and was preparing for his 2L year when tragedy struck. At Berkeley, Brian was part of the African American Law Journal and Pilipino American Law Society (PALS). Recently, Brian interned at the East Bay Community Law Center where his focus was helping at-risk youth. This fall he was to start as a Racial Justice Law Clerk at Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights in San Francisco. He was committed to social justice issues, and was looking forward to a career in public interest law helping people in underserved communities. Brian loved sports, the outdoors, learning, and spending time with friends and family. He was unique in his combination of intellect, sensitivity, caring, quiet humor, and unpretentiousness. He was a regular guy who also had enormous gifts to share with the world. His sister Jenna was his first and biggest fan, and Brian relished his role as a big brother. His parents, Marc and Felicia, along with 2 grandmothers, 10 aunts and uncles, and 9 first cousins will cherish the beautiful memories they have of this rare and special person. His days with us were too few, but they were filled with life, spirit, and love. Memorial services to be held on August 19, 2018, 10:30 am in Los Angeles at Leo Baeck Temple. Donations can be made to the National Resources Defense Counsel (NRDC).
