Alfred Berg

Alfred Berg, 85 passed away on August 11, 2018, at his home in Lynnwood, Washington, surrounded by loving family.

Born to Karl Berg and Marta Rognsvaag on Fedje, a small Island West of Bergen, Norway on January 30, 1933, Alfred was determined, hard-working, and reliable. At 15 he came to the United States with his father to scout a new home for their family. At 18 he joined the army, became a citizen and a decorated Korean War veteran

He met the love of his life, Sonja Sanne, at a Ballard Sons of Norway dance. They married in 1960, had four children (Kevin, David, John, and Kirsten), eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Although he was raised to be a fisherman, he became a talented engineer. He loved the outdoors and building. He became a gentleman farmer and built his current home in 2001. For 30 years he walked to work until he retired from ELDEC/Crane in 1995.

Alfred was active in his community and Trinity Lutheran Church. Everyone loved his "Swedish" pancakes, which he served until this year at Edmonds, Sons of Norway Lodge. He received the "Man of the Year" award in 2018 for his contributions to District 2, Sons of Norway.

He was an avid cross-country skier and hiker. He raced Birkebiener in Norway in his seventies, volunteered with Ski-for-Light, a program for guiding blind skiers, and maintained hiking trails.

A celebration of Alfred's life will

be held on Friday, August 17,

2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church
