Bernice Jones-Burrell Woods Celebration of life is Wednesday Bernice Jones-Burrell Woods, 90, made her transition on Aug. 7, 2018. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 235 Seymour Ave., Newark, N.J. Interment is in Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth, N.J. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Arrangements are by Whigham Funeral Home. Born in Woodward, S.C., Bernice was a a resident of East Orange, N.J., for 50 years and Newark, N.J., for 16 years. She was a retired dietary specialist for Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, N.J. Loving wife of the late Elijah W. Woods, she was the cherished mother of Melvin H. Jones, Bernice J. Hall, Phyllis L. Burrell, Jacqueline Farmer, and (daughter-in-law), Dyanne R. Jones; adored daughter of the late Joe Jones and Carrie Morrison Foster; caring sister of Sarah Lomax and the late Roberta Foy, Georgeana Foster, Annabelle Garrett, Rosalee Parks, Lucielle Gladden, Matthew Jones, and Ernest Cameron; special grandmother of five grandchildren; and also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
