Alexander D. MacDougall Had long career with NJ Bell, Army Reservist, active member of Kiwanis Club Alexander D. MacDougall, 88, of Clark, N.J., entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral service at the Walter Johnson Funeral Home, 803 Raritan Rd., Clark, on Saturday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge, N.J. Mr. MacDougall was born in Elizabeth, N.J., to Alexander and Dorothy (Reynolds) MacDougall. He proudly served his country in the Army Reserve, 831st Signal Company as a sergeant first class. He lived in Woodbridge and Rahway, N.J., prior to moving to Clark 56 years ago. Mr. MacDougall began his telephone career in 1947 as a frame man at New Jersey Bell in Jersey City. He advanced to switch man and various management positions in the phone company throughout his career. He retired as manager in Woodbridge in the mid 1980s. Mr. MacDougall was a past president of the Watchung Amateur Ski Club. He was a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club of Clark. He served as president from 2009 to 2010 and was "Man of the Year" in 2010. Over 16 years he frequently served as treasurer and for 10 years he was coordinator of the spaghetti dinner. He enjoyed fishing, boating, skiing, traveling, spending time on Cape Cod and making homemade Manhattan Clam Chowder. He was a "Jack of All Trades" and could do just about anything himself. Mr. MacDougall is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Emily (Strahl) MacDougall; his devoted children, Alexander B. MacDougall and Kimberly Grandal and her husband, Daniel, and his cherished grandchildren, Alyssa and Jenna Grandal.
